One of the most iconic canoe trips in the UK
You'll likely have heard the concept of the Coast To Coast routes. In England that would normally refer to a walking or cycling route from the Cumbrian coast to the Yorkshire coast.
In Scotland the most talked about route is the Great Glen. This stunning route stretches from Fort William on the west coast through to Inverness on the east. The Great Glen is actually a collection of possible lines running in parallel. Many walk or cycle the route. For canoe trips there's the Caledonian Canal.
The Caledonian Canal connects the series of existing rivers and lochs (bypassing some spots which aren't suitable for boats) and makes the whole way navigable by water.
Stretching out to around 60 miles this expedition takes 5 days to complete.

The Details
The trip begins on Day 1 outside of Fort William. After some setting up and packing of kit we paddle along the Caledonian Canal to our overnight stop at Gairlochy.
Day 2 sees us paddling along Loch Lochy and then part of Loch Oich to our second camp.
Day 3 completes Loch Oich and takes us through Fort Augustus and part way along Loch Ness (keep an eye out for monsters) to our third camp.
On Day 4 we complete Loch Ness (unless eaten by wayward dinosaurs) to our fourth and final camp.
The final day makes use of the River Ness through Inverness to finish at the sea and head for home.
